Ruffing Update...

Everything is so crazy, I don't think my brain has had a chance to digest it all. I am pleased to report that Joey's bilirubin levels have dropped enough that they're stopping photo therapy and that when I left the hospital this afternoon, they were starting to wean him off the isolette. They have to gradually reduce the temperature to see if he can maintain body temperature in an open crib. Hopefully, if he does well overnight we may be able to bring him home by Monday.

He's a really sweet baby and sooooo tiny. His weight this morning was 4 pounds, 15 ounces. They're also hoping he'll gain 6 ounces and be back up to his birth weight soon.

I am a little concerned because Andy has a runny nose and a cough. I can just see having to quarantine the baby in my bedroom to keep him away from Andy.

Poor Andy is so confused by my running around. Everytime he sees me he runs over with a big hug and doesn't want to let go. As things settle down I'll have time to write about my dramatic delivery and all the trauma poor Joey has had to go through during his first week.

In the meantime, pictures

I haven't had a chance to think about myself, really. The nurses at the hospital were amazed at how up and around I was after a c-section. I had to take care of and be with my new baby! I haven't really taken a lot of the pain meds they gave me. I've only taken it when I really need it. Like tonight I've been really crampy and sore. So, I took the meds and sent Steve to the hospital for the 10 pm feeding and with tonight's stock of breast milk. I'm trying to relax a little, something I haven't given myself much time to do since last Sunday.
