Four days down, 1 to go...

I just had a long phone chat with my sister.  Apparently, her doctor now isn't sure whether or not she actually miscarried.  The doctor is still thinking ectopic pregnancy but won't commit to that.  Nela is a mess-- she doesn't know what to think or believe.  There's a good chance that Nela calculated her dates wrong and is only about 3 weeks pregnant which would account for the light bleeding (implantation), maybe some of the cramping, and also the doctor's inability to locate the embryo on the ultrasound before today.

That's right, the doctor saw "something" very small in Nela's uterus today.  So there's still hope, I guess.

Additionally, Nela isn't feeling very comfortable with her doctor.  I saw the same doctor for a few years.  She did a LEEP procedure for me when I had abnormal cervical cells and at that time I realized I needed to find a new doctor.  Her bedisde manner and the way she talked to me felt very condescending, negative and smug.  Now Nela is saying that she is getting a similar vibe from her.  (My current OB was in her practice for awhile.  I actually started with Dr. Lo when I was having a difficult time getting an appointment with Dr. Somers... I found out last year that Dr. Somers kicked Dr. Lo out of her practice and said she was "cruel" to the patients.  It's quite the opposite...) I told Nela she should seek a new doctor because she needs to feel comfortable asking questions and discussing all of the possibilities.

She needs to RUN to a new OB. No matter what the outcome, it doesn't sound like her current doctor is handeling it well AT ALL.

She's giving the doctor until her next appointment on Monday. She said that since she's been seeing her for so many years she feels like she should give the doc one more shot before making an appointment elsewhere. She didn't know if she could switch doctors once in a pregnancy and I reminded her that legally, her old doctor will have to provide her new doctor with all of her files. The main thing is that she feel comfortable.

So, we'll see what happens.

I'm sorry your sister is having such a rough time. When I went to the doc with this pregnancy I was 7 weeks (based off of AF). They did an u/s and they saw a saw with a very tiny dot. I couldnt' see the dot without them pointing it out to me. They said I was around 4 weeks. They also said using an u/s before 5 weeks is very hard to calculate how far along you are. They also told me my tubes looked fine and the baby was in my uterus so it wasn't an ectopic pregnancy. Did they check her tubes? With our last two u/s we've seen a nice strong heartbeat!

They haven't found anything in her tubes to indicate that there's an embryo stuck there and she hasn't had any other prior reproductive problems. They were able to locate a sac in the uterus so I'm not sure why the doctor still keeps pushing the idea of an ectopic pregnancy and termination on my sister. I really want her to switch to a new doctor. Preferably mine. :)

She needs a new doc!!! How far along should she be based on AF? Like I said I should have been 7 weeks but the sac only measured 4 weeks and everything is working out fine. We will keep her in our thoughts.

Based on AF she's 5 weeks. I think she's more like 3 weeks.
