I went to the grocery store and picked up some seafood and munchy stuff for the holiday. The kids have pretty much had free reign on bad eating since Christmas and since I figured that this was the end of that, I got stuff I knew they'd like too. Pigs in a blanket, or as Joey calls them, baby hot dogs, are big here with the little guys.
My friend, Maureen, who moved into our development, came over with her husband and son for a little while and we sat around the kitchen table being chatty. She and I split a rather large bottle of wine. The kids ran around playing. They left around 9:30 as all the kids started to droop. I'd intended to let Andy and Joey stay up-- I actually hoped they would-- but they crashed around 10.
Wayne and I snuggled on the couch and then tuned in to Dick Clark just in time to see J Lo's horrible outfit and watch the ball drop. We opened a bottle of sparkling wine that turned out to really suck but we each choked down a glass.
And then we went to bed. Ahhh, the exciting life of parents. :)
