Unbearable July Heat

It was hot this weekend, so much so that we hid in air conditioning as much as possible.

Wayne's kids got here Thursday night and we'd planned to go to Kids' Court with them but missed the open hours.  Same thing for Friday.  We ended up bumming around the house doing various things.  I finally painted the spots on my bowling ball lady bug for the yard.  I've been working hard on my fish tank, trying to clear up the ammonia problem through water changes.

Saturday morning we had to head out early to drop Wayne's kids off to their mom by 10.  That means getting everyone up, changed, dressed, fed and out the door by like quarter to nine (so that we can be sure to get to the Burger King where they meet early, first).  Since that's out by Lancaster, we planned on going to That Fish Place, a well-known aquarium shop and to Costco.

Andy was a nightmare in the enormous pet store.  I thought he'd be happy to look at the thousands of fish but he preferred to throw tantrum after tantrum.  Joey was fine-- and strapped into a stroller.  Andy was better in Costco, even though that was the third stop of the day.  When we were done there it was just so hot and everyone was tired and cranky, we came home and vegged out for the night.

Sunday was our weekly trip to Sesame Place.  It was hot and crowded. We usually spend our time at The Count's Fount, Andy's favorite swimming area, and I had to deal with him whining when it was closed for half an hour because some selfish idiot didn't spend $2 to put their kid in a swimmy diaper and the kid pooped in the water.  So everyone had to leave the water while they cleaned it up, shocked the water and filtered.  I was pretty pissed but that was the first time it's happened on all of our trips there.  From the water Steve met us and we all shared a funnel cake sundae.

The boys went home with Steve.  Wayne and I went to my friend Stacy's so I could scrap with the girls and he hung out with her husband, Frank.  Frank cracks me up.  Anyway... we were there till midnight.

And that's my weekend.  It's quarter to 11 now and I'm supposed to meet Meg at 11:15 to go to a playdate at another friend's house.  I have a bunch of crap I need to prep for mailing.  Before I come home this afternoon I need to mail this stuff at the post office.  Tonight I plan to go back to the pet store and have a chance to actually talk to the fishie experts about my situation, see The Dark Knight and go out to a hibachi place for dinner.  Always moving, that's me!

It was definitely a scorcher this weekend! Those lady bug bowling balls are so cute. Are you going to post pics?

When it's finally done, I will. I need to get the black silicone caulk to hold the antennae up and fill the finger holes.

I bet it will be really cute when it's finished.

I think divorce keeps Burger King/McDs in business! Better than meeting at the house, I'd think - nobody's territory.

" finally painted the spots on my bowling ball lady bug for the yard." WHERE ARE THE PICS?! I am seriously considering doing this at our home, likely with big rocks, buy maybe bowling balls from a thrift store. So I would be grateful for tips - type of paint esp.

We don't even go in, it's just usually the parking lot.

I drop the boys off to Steve at work and then he brings them back to my house. As long as he's comfortable with that, I'm fine with it. It's important to me that the boys see we get along.

I hear ya. I haven't walked in your shoes, but it seems to me you're doing a terrific, KID-focused job - stepparenting & coparenting appear to have quite a few challenges.

Ahem, pics?

The bowling ball isn't technically finished yet. I need to put in the antennae.

And thank you so much. I am trying my best to make the situation healthy and to work out for everyone.
