Forget regret or life is yours to miss!

Woke up early yesterday morning, ate, dressed the kids and got in the car.  We were at my parents' house in New Jersey by 11:30.  They were all set for a day of quality time with the boys while Wayne and I headed into Manhattan to see Rent on Broadway before it closes.

Our tickets were for the matinee, starting at 2.  We were sitting in bumper to bumper traffic on 42nd street at 1:30.  Miraculously, we were able to park in the garage next to the theater.  There was a huge line of people waiting to get in, snaking past the front of the theater, up the block and around the corner.  We got on the end and very quickly moved forward.

We had great seats in the center of the theater, about 6 rows back from the stage.  Miraculously, there was no one in front of us- just a row of four empty seats.

The show was just as high energy as I remembered from the first time I saw it, and equally poignant.  I found myself crying at least six or seven times.  I didn't like some of the actors this time as much as the last time I saw the show or as much as the original cast (featured on my CD and in the movie).   Tamyra Gray of American Idol was Mimi and she was amazing as a singer and also as an actress.  I really enjoyed her performance.  I also particularly loved this Mark, Roger and Joanne.  Maureen was too goofy.

Just amazing.

And then after the show, we headed back to Newark, where we met up with my friends from Staten Island for a fabulous meal at Fernandes Steakhouse.  Brazillian Barbecue-- a festival of meat.   Yum.
