Christmas Recap

Steve and I were up so late trying to get the house ready for Christmas morning.  We got all of the toys opened and put batteries in and set them up.  Steve set up the train set I got for Andy at Costco.  It's so awesome.  Its a huge set of tracks and trains and the best part is that the tracks are the same size as the Thomas tracks for WAY less money.  I put wrapping paper over the kitchen door and that was it.

Anyway, we went to sleep and woke up at 7 because Joey was crying.  When we got out of bed we found that Andy had torn down the wrapping paper and was sitting quietly in the living room playing with his trains.  It was very sweet.  The kids played with their gifts for awhile before we got them dressed to go up to my mom's for dinner.

I am so proud of my mom.  Last year, because of my father's prejudice, my sister and her husband went out to a restaurant for dinner and my mom was miserable.  This year she told my dad that he has no choice, my sister and her husband were coming for Christmas and he (my dad) could either get over it or go somewhere else.  So Nela and Terik were there and there were no problems.  My mom even got out all of her Spode Christmas China. It was a really awesome holiday.  The kids got way too many toys and like a big goober, I forgot the gifts for my neice and nephew, so I had to go back up to my mom's yesterday.

So it's Wednesday.  Tonight is the wake for my uncle who passed away suddenly on Friday night.  Tonight is the only viewing and then his body is being shipped to Spain.  I'll probably make another post about that whole fiasco later.  So my dad is going to Spain to help my aunt, who married my uncle late in life and who is Venezuelan, deal with all of the customs issues and with whatever needs to be done with the Spanish government and stuff in regards to my uncle's property and stuff.

My house is a total disaster zone.  There is just STUFF everywhere.  Work work work for me until the house is normal.

That IS sweet about Andy playing with his trains! I can totally picture it :)

Wow, I didn't know your dad had a problem with blacks. Was he cordial to Terik or did he just ignore him? That's so sad.... I wish people could look past something as silly as SKIN color. But I understand, I have a few in my family that have their issues too :(

Sorry to hear your uncle passed! I didn't see that written anywhere else. Did you post about it or was this the first mention?

My dad is a total racist. He was actually quite cordial and it was good. It's so frustrating. But hopefully now, things will be better.

I don't think I wrote anything else about my Uncle Manuel. He died suddenly on Friday night, of a massive heart attack, in his home, holding his wife's hand. It's quite tragic.
