Month Early Good News

Good Afternoon from Riverview Hospital in Scenic Red Bank, NJ.

Sunday was quite the big day for Juli and Steve.  It was her 30th birthday, and the date of the biggest blizzard to hit New York City in recorded history - which kept us from going out to her favorite restaurant for dinner.  We were thwarted on our anniversary by a huge thunderstorm, and had been looking forward to going out for her birthday.  Our plans to go out were hampered anyway by Juli's severe cramping, so we got some take out from a local place, which Steve went out to bring home.  The roads, by the way, were HORRIBLE.  This will be important about an hour later.  Halfway through dinner, Juli wasn't feeling well, so after talking to her doctor's on-call stand-in, we decided to go to the hospital.  The horrible road conditions made it possible for Steve to run red lights - since there was hardly anyone else on the road!

At 7:52 pm, Joseph Steven Ruffing made his first appearance in the world!

He measured 5 lbs, 5 oz, and measured 17 inches long.

Juli is doing well after her C-Section, and should be home tomorrow to update everyone in more detail.  Despite being 6 weeks early, Joey is doing quite well.  He is being kept in the special care nursery with round-the-clock nurses watching over him.  He had an oxygen tube at first, but it was removed today, so he's definitely improving.  No word yet on when Joey will be able to come home, though.  Understandably, Juli doesn't want to leave the hospital without him.

Juli can be reached (today, anyway) at 732-224-7424.

Thanks, Sal. The baby is getting better and I am hanging in there, trying to recover while in the midst of chaos.
