Craft room progress

It's getting cute down there!  Wayne put moisture blocking paint on the concrete walls, which really lightened the space up.  There are some furnishings and accessories down there.  I'm really proud though that everything that's been done down in my section of the basement is from yard sales or craigslist and I have lucked out on some pretty odd objects.

For example, I wanted to put a peg board on the wall for tools that I use less frequently-- like fancy scissors, my craft iron, my hot glue guns.  For a peg board to work, it's got to have some space behind it and I'm not actually finishing the basement with drywall and stuff so I was concerned and trying to figure out what I could do.

I went out shopping during our neighborhood's  yard sale and came across the perfect solution.  A neighbor of mine apparently made and sold fishing lures at craft shows and such.  To show off his lures, he had a sort of folding peg board display case.  He'd framed out pegboard with 1x2s and connected them with a piano hinge.  He sold it to me for $5.  You can't even buy just the peg board for $5.  It's perfect.  I took the hinge and hardware off, painted it bright pink and the two halves are now hanging from the beams in my basement.  They look very cute.

I found a console table from IKEA that cost me $20.  I bought 8 wooden chairs for $30.  Four need reupholstering because the emerald green vinyl doesn't go with my scheme but I'm having fun with that.  I painted an old, ugly dresser that Wayne's parents gave us.  It had ornate doors on either side of it that I removed.  I painted the insides of the cabinets hot pink and the rest of the dresser black.  It's holding my Cricut and cartridges and baskets of other supplies.

In the realm of big things that still need to be done:
1.  I need a couple more outlets.  At most  4, at least 2.

2.  Changing out the single, bare-bulb light fixture over my work space with a fluorescent fixture.  I've priced them out and they're cheaper than I expected.

3.  Drywall on the side of the staircase.  Can't do that though until I get the outlet I desperately need over there installed.

I am hoping and crossing fingers that by the end of summer I can invite the girls over for a little scrapbooking time.

I'm waiting until it's a little more done to take pictures. If I'm lucky, next week.
