Lush-a-licious

The last thing we did before leaving Philly was stop in at Lush. I was out of shampoo and figured if we were going to be near a store, I'd rather shop there than order online and pay shipping. In the end, we got ripped off $16 for parking but I was able to actually touch and smell and sample, which you can't do online or from the catalog.

Admittedly, I was a very bad girl. I grabbed a basket. That was the first mistake. Way too easy to over-shop when you don't have to juggle stuff in your hands.

I ended up with:
  1. Ocean Salt Scrub-- a product I've used before and loved.
  2. Jungle Solid Conditioner- this is a newish product and I'm curious to try it out. No packaging!
  3. Veganese Conditioner- amazing stuff
  4. I Love Juicy- the most incredible shampoo for oily hair ever
  5. Karma Komba- a solid bar shampoo, no packaging, great for travel
  6. Seanick- another solid shampoo bar
  7. Each Peach Massage Bar- yummiest smelling ever
I am a spoiled, spoiled girl.

I used the Seanick shampoo and Jungle conditioner that night. My hair was fantastic. So soft, lightly scented and CLEAN.

glass_lion, I know you don't often splurge on yourself but this stuff is soooo good.  I think it's totally worth the cost because the stuff does what it is supposed to do, uses no chemicals, it lasts for a really long time AND it's environmentally sound.

So I went ahead and found there's two Lush stores in your area: one at 400 Pine Street in Seattle and one in Bellevue Square.

Wayne manages to take the worst pictures of me but I'll share it anyway

That sounds interesting. It looks like my closest one is at the airport... figures. I do live really close to a B&BW; how would you say this differs? I'm interested.

I shopped at the one in the airport when we were leaving Orlando... and I bought shower gel which they nicely poured into 3 ounce containers so I could bring it on the plane.

Grrr.

It's similar to B&BW in that it's shower stuff and soap etc, but it's vastly different. From their web site:

A LUSH Life

We believe in making effective products out of fresh organic* fruit and vegetables, the finest essential oils and safe synthetics, without animal ingredients, and in writing the quantitative list on the outside.

We also believe in buying only from companies that test for safety without the involvement of animals and in testing our products on humans.

We believe in making our own fresh* products by hand, printing our own labels and making our own fragrances.

We believe in long candlelit baths, massage, filling the house with perfume and in the right to make mistakes, lose everything and start again.

We believe that our products should be good value, that we make a profit and that the customer is always right.

*We also believe words like "fresh" and "organic" have honest meaning beyond marketing.

Cool, thanks! though I gotta say, I would take off that "customer is always right" thing if I were them. Because they're not.

I mean, if I go in there and say I ought to get $40 worth of stuff for $10 because I'm the customer and I'm right...

That's a lame phrase and it should have died with the store that invented it (which did die).

I agree... it's stupid, but if that's the biggest criticism of their stuff, that's not a big deal.

I've loved everything I got from them with the exception of Coolaulin conditioner. It smelled like smoke and was supposed to smell like coconut.

Y'know, I've found that with other coconut-flavored products from other places too! It's like "coconut" means "burnt coconut" when it comes to cosmetics.

I got used to it after awhile but it was odd.

It was this stuff http://www.ihealthtree.com/queen-helene-hand-body-lotion-cocoa-bt-16oz.html

I found it at Costco because I am cheap. :D
