Rachael Ray is a terrorist?

Apparently a bunch of people think that by wearing a scarf in a Dunkin Donuts commercial for iced coffee, she expresses agreement with the Palestinian jihad movement.

Seriously.  I am not making this crap up.

So Dunkin Donuts has pulled the ad.

I sigh.  I can't believe how far we've let things go, that every little minute detail of something so non-important as a coffee commercial, can be scrutinized and dissected for the media, creating a non-news news story that is being covered in major papers and news outlets (not to mention, here I am blogging it!).

Aren't there Americans fighting and dying right now in Iraq and Afganistan?  Is Rachael Ray's wardrobe in a commercial, that she didn't even pick out herself, *really* that important?

ETA.  Pete Wentz has photo blogged about it.  Woo Hoo.

If Obama's flag pin is that important, so is this.

I wonder about those old ladies who wear rain scarfs. When is Michelle Malkin going to get on them? I wonder, if Hillary appeared in a rain scarf, what would happen...

Obama is a political candidate with huge momentum, a scary thing for the GOP, so they have to pick on something like patriotism.

This is a TV cook (not even a chef!) shilling iced coffee.

But if they can get people hopped up over the patriotism of large corporations and celebrity figures, they play to their base. It's just as big a deal over just as small a deal.

Ugh. As if Malkin wasn't bad enough.

And on top of all that, and this, what really burns me up is her equation of "jihad" with the Palestinian uprising properly referred to as the intifada. They don't call it jihad. They're two concepts entirely.

I hate sloppy academics. Of course, Malkin's not an academic in any serious sense. Ugh.

Malkin is a Coulter Wannabe. Just as stupid and inflammatory but not as famous, nor as beloved by the GOP.

Something that totally struck me earlier and I didn't really get until now is that her blouse would totally look better without the stupid scarf anyway. With a neckline that wide and open, she'd look better with an interesting necklace than with that sloppy, last-minute scarf. What was that stylist thinking?

That is so stupid. I don't know what is worse, the accusations or DD pulling the ad because of this.

It is an ugly scarf; not a terrorist scarf.

I agree. Seriously though, what were they thinking? It looks stupid. Especially agains the fake green screen background.

Rachael Ray a terrorist? Seriously? That is just the dumbest thing I've heard in awhile! She's just that woman with the bubbly voice and the t.v. show about cooking and stuff. Wow! Some people are really stupid!
